"Let us therefore set out whole-heartedly, leaving aside our many distractions and exert ourselves in this single purpose, before we realize too late the swift and unstoppable flight of time and are left behind. As each day arises, welcome it as the very best day of all, and make it your own possession. We must seize what flees."
— Seneca, Moral Letters
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the phrase "Carpe Diem" it basically means "seize the day"
It is down to us as traders to do just that, as we wait to pounce on trades which fully meet the rules/criteria for our strategies, as and when the opportunities arise.
A question from today's meditation and I quote: "Will you do your very best, to be your very best?"
If you are taking trading seriously, you should be striving to do this every day that you trade. If you are constantly practising and getting to know your strategies inside out, you will become more confident and consistent; but you need to put the hard work in, by doing your very best, to be your very best!
Every day is a challenge, but it is also another day of practising, rinse and repeat and another day of experience and developing as a trader.
Remember, we are in this for the long haul and it isn't a get rich quick scheme! Practice, patience and discipline are required by the bucket load!
However, if you stick to the rules/criteria for your strategies 100% of the time and ignore everything else, you will be rewarded. As your knowledge of your strategies grows, so will your confidence. You will be able to consistently manage your trades to completion; cutting short the ones that are looking like going against you and therefore becoming profitable overall. With constant practice, your trade execution and management, will become easier as you see the benefits of taking the profits from your trades that went to plan and cutting short the ones that didn't.
So let's do our best, to be our very best and not put it off until tomorrow. Time is of the essence and tomorrow never comes! "Seize the day" before it's gone!
