"Where is Good? In our reasoned choices. Where is Evil? In our reasoned choices. Where is that which is neither Good nor Evil? In the things outside of our own reasoned choice."
— Epictetus, Discourses
Today's meditation is another one that we can compare to trading.
We use reasoned and informed choices, based on the stats/data that we have available to us, to determine if a potential trade then fully meets the rules/criteria for our strategies.
If we have done our research and the trade looks good, we will execute and manage the trade fully to completion.
If the potential trade doesn't fully meet our criteria for whatever reason, we don't force it and we move on to the next opportunity and use the exact same procedure again.
This require endless amounts of patience and unbending discipline on a daily basis!
We have to know the difference between a "good" trade and an "evil" trade! Even what looks like a good trade because it fully meets our rules/criteria, may turn out not so good when it goes live and we may have to exit in a heartbeat to protect our bank on the odd occasion! This is part and parcel of trading, so it is of course imperative that we fully manage our trades to completion and never switch off until the trade is complete!
We make our informed and reasoned choices and we forget about the noise of others on social media etc.
The last line of today's meditation is a timely reminder of what I have touched on regularly over the last few months; and I quote: "Ignore everything else. Focus only on your choices."
