Prepare Yourself For Negativity

John BoyUk, 6 April

"When you first rise in the morning tell yourself: I will encounter busybodies, ingrates, egomaniacs, liars, the jealous and cranks. They are all stricken with these afflictions because they don't know the difference between good and evil. Because I have understood the beauty of good and the ugliness of evil, I know that these wrong-doers are still akin to me . . . and that none can do me harm, or implicate me in ugliness — nor can I be angry at my relatives or hate them. For we are made for cooperation."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Tough to compare to trading today, other than the fact that on social media you will find plenty of negativity, especially if you are doing well and profitable! I think this comes from frustration and jealousy from the trolls who can't stick to a set procedure/process/strategy etc. They think if they can't do it, nobody else can; but they don't put the time and effort in and jump from one strategy to another, waste their money paying tipsters and then get angry when they have a few losing bets! Everything we need to be successful as traders; patience, discipline, mindset etc. these trolls don't have, so they try their hand at being negative and even abusive to those that are doing well.

You only have to look at some of the messages that @Mark receives regularly on a daily basis to imagine what you are up against with these people. Desperation and jealousy breeds desperate behaviour I'm afraid! Take these people with a pinch of salt and stick to what you know works for you over time.

Unfortunately negativity is out there and I actually feel quite sorry for them as they are so bitter and twisted and they clearly are not going to change their ways; more than likely because they can't.

So ignore the negativity and let it dissipate like water off a duck's back, because we must not let it affect us.

All we need to concentrate on is what we do day in day out, rinse and repeat, so that we know our strategies inside out and back to front.

This is the way to successful trading 100%!
