A Mantra Of Mutual Interdependence

John BoyUk, 3 October

"Meditate often on the interconnectedness and mutual interdependence of all things in the universe. For in a sense, all things are mutually woven together and therefore have an affinity for each other—for one thing follows after another according to their tension of movement, their sympathetic stirrings, and the unity of all substance."
—MARCUS AURELIUS, MEDITATIONS, 6.38

I have really struggled to try to compare today's meditation to trading!

When I look at how harsh life was in Greece and Rome all those years ago, it makes me extremely grateful of the life that I can live in these modern times!

An interesting line from today's meditation and I quote; "Anne Lamott once observed that all writers 'are little rivers running into one lake,' all contributing to the same big project."

This made me think about this from a trading aspect. Just as some writers will be at different levels of creativity, as they thrive, through practice and experience; the same could be said for us as traders. Rather than different levels of creativity, we may have different levels of learning and understanding, due to the amount of experience and knowledge that we have during our trading journeys. Also, we are all contributing to that same big project, which in our case, is to become confident and consistently profitable traders over a period of time.

The last sentence of today's meditation is also something that got me thinking and I feel it is also very true and I quote;

"Today, take a moment to remember that we are woven together and that each of us plays a role (good, bad, or ugly) in this world."

I believe that we are all woven together here at TTM and that we all have a part to play, to try and help each other progress on our individual trading journeys.

Can we create "a mantra of mutual interdependence" with an affinity for helping each other, wherever we possibly can?

I think TTM actually already does that!

Food for thought maybe?
