"No one is crushed by Fortune, unless they are first deceived by her . . . those who aren't pompous in good times, don't have their bubbles burst with change. Against either circumstance, the stable person keeps their rational soul invincible, for it's precisely in the good times they prove their strength against adversity."
— Seneca, On Consolation to Helvia
Another meditation today that is tough to compare to trading, although not as deep and powerful as the last couple of days!
The message that I get from a trading perspective, is not to get deceived and carried away if you have a few really nice profitable days, where everything goes your way perfectly! The markets have a habit of biting back, especially if you get over confident and complacent, letting your guard down and thinking you've cracked it!
Remember that we are at our weakest, when we least expect to be attacked, so we must always be "in the zone" and be prepared to expect the unexpected, every time that we enter a trade.
Stick to the rules/criteria for your strategies 100% of the time and be ready to fully manage every trade to completion, by taking your pre-targeted profit or cutting short at your pre-agreed exit point, the occasional trade that is going against you; to protect your trading bank over the long term.
If you have a good run of super profitable trading where everything goes perfectly to plan, enjoy the profits but do not be deceived by this and become over excited or over confident, because the markets will kick your ass for sure!
Stay focused, patient, disciplined and level-headed and you will be ready for when the markets decide to bite back; because believe me, they will!
It's all down to you, so it is in your hands to manage your trading journey. If you can stay prepared you will be rewarded for your hard work. You've got this!
