"Chaos often breeds life, when order breeds habit" –Henry Adams
We need to understand that while it is not possible, it is also not healthy to control or try to control every aspect of life. By doing so, we create habits which throw us off course.
By my own, often meek standards, it was today where I realised how inefficient I am as a trader. Especially on weekends, running around like a blue-arsed fly, juggling chores with the plethora of trades available to me.
Placing my trade, going downstairs, putting a wash on, running the hoover around etc. This is not how to do things if you're taking it seriously and this is exactly what I do EVERY weekend. Little to no control over my position is the reality there.
Unable to explain why (maybe it was an alcohol-free Friday?) I just feel 'on it' today. Sharp and efficient. I'm writing this at half-time of the 15:00 kick-offs without even having looked at a trade for the day. But I'm now ready. I have no distractions. Everything else which could possibly distract me is done. It feels good.
To those already accomplished, I have no doubt that this is the norm. Today it's my turn to try and get into that headspace. Half way there today and that's without even considering opening the exchange.
Black coffee, racing post and Sports-IQ in front of me. Following the above recipe, here's to a focused and efficient trading session, just like this blog. Sharp and short. Long may that continue.
I hope this may help some of you figure out the organisation and peace of mind required to trade as efficiently as you can.
If this has NOT helped, I'm sure that there is an aforementioned book available to help you do so…
