"On those mornings you struggle with getting up, keep this thought in mind — I am awakening to the work of a human being. Why then am I annoyed that I am going to do what I'm made for, the very things for which I was put into this world? Or was I made for this, to snuggle under the covers and keep warm? It's so pleasurable. Were you then made for pleasure? In short, to be coddled or to exert yourself?"
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Today's meditation is not something that I can really compare to trading.
I must admit that I am not a fan of early morning rises, but if I am working, I would rather be up and in work early and be home around lunchtime or just after, so I can then crack on and get prepared for my trading session.
On days that I am not working, I will treat myself to a little lie in and then prepare for my day with some meditation and a pre trading walk.
A lot of people are early risers and feel that they can get more done early in the morning and we are all different of course.
I find having a daily routine really helps and benefits me.
I do like the last line of today's meditation though and this can be applicable, regardless of what time you rise; "So c'mon. Get in the shower, have your coffee and get going"
I think that as long as you have a plan of preparation for the day ahead, you can be quite flexible in the way that it works best for you.
