Two Tasks

John BoyUk, 25 October

"What, then, makes a person free from hindrance and self-determining? For wealth doesn't, neither does high-office, state or kingdom—rather, something else must be found . . . in the case of living, it is the knowledge of how to live."
—EPICTETUS, DISCOURSES, 4.1.62–64

A really simple message from today's meditation and it is something that can also be applied to trading.

The point being that it is also put very simply enough to actually do it, on a daily basis.

"Say no to distractions, to destructive emotions, to outside pressure."

These are all subjects that I have touched on more than once, when writing my daily journals.

We need to be "in the zone" when we are trading, which means zero distractions.

Once we have entered a trade, we detach ourselves from any emotion and go into neutral mode. This means that we are ready to react to any scenario, swiftly and without hesitation.

With regard to outside pressure; if we are sticking to the rules/criteria for our strategies, there is none! The only pressure would be what we could put on ourselves, if we didn't follow our rules; which would of course be pressure of our own making! With patience, discipline and the correct trading mindset, this can be achieved as you grow and develop on your trading journey.

Take your time and stick to the plan, practising and slowly building. It will take time but even the tiniest progression every day that you trade, is a massive positive and will give you the confidence and belief that you can do it; because guess what? You most definitely can, without a shadow of a doubt! So get out there and do it!
