How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything

John BoyUk, 18 May

"Pay attention to what's in front of you — the principle, the task, or what's being portrayed."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Another meditation that can be compared to trading today.

I have stressed the importance of getting to know your strategies inside out and back to front, rinse and repeat day in, day out. This is imperative because it means we know exactly what to do in any given scenario during a trade. We are basically doing the same thing for every trade that we undertake. If the trade goes to plan, we take our pre-agreed targeted profit and if the trade is going against us, we cut it short for a controlled red at our pre-agreed targeted exit point.

So as it says at the end of today's meditation and I quote; "How you handle today is how you'll handle every day. How you handle this minute is how you'll handle every minute."

We need to have the correct trading mindset, to be able to use the exact same procedure every time that we trade, with zero distractions and not letting outside influences affect us. This is the hard part and it can be boring, tedious, repetitious and monotonous; but you will be rewarded for your hard work and sticking to the plan.

So when it also comes to trading regularly and consistently, "How you do anything is how you do everything."
