"Every habit and capability is confirmed and grows in its corresponding actions, walking by walking, and running by running . . . therefore, if you want to do something make a habit of it, if you don't want to do that, don't, but make a habit of something else instead. The same principle is at work in our state of mind. When you get angry, you've not only experienced that evil, but you've also reinforced a bad habit, adding fuel to the fire."
— Epictetus, Discourses
An interesting meditation for today and it confirms that as traders, we need to do the same thing; rinse and repeat tirelessly to make what we do become habit.
We will stick to the rules/criteria that our strategies require, 100% of the time with no forcing of anything that fails to fully meet those rules. We will stay patient and disciplined and fully focused on managing every trade to completion. This means we can take our targeted profit as planned, or cut short any trades that are going against us, at our pre-agreed exit point.
If we are consistently doing the right thing and sticking to the plan, it will become habit, because we get to know our strategies inside out and know exactly what to do in any given scenario.
As it says in today's meditation and I quote; "We are what we repeatedly do," Aristotle said, "therefore excellence is not an act but a habit"
By trading the same way, using the same strategies day in, day out; we are "fuelling the habit bonfire."
