Make Character Your Loudest Statement

John BoyUk, 1 May

"For philosophy doesn't consist in outward display, but in taking heed to what is needed and being mindful of it."
— Musonius Rufus, Lectures

So as we get to the start of month five already, today's meditation follows on from yesterday perfectly.

Yesterday I touched on the importance of having the right character to trade successfully and how using the correct trading behaviour builds our character.

The opening quote in today's meditation from the "Musonius Rufus, Lectures" sums up today's message perfectly and I quote; "For philosophy doesn't consist in outward display, but in taking heed to what is needed and being mindful of it."

So let's break this quote down:

1). We don't shout from the rooftops on social media or trading groups, what we are about to do in an outward display. We are concentrating fully on our potential trade, with zero distractions and managing it to completion.

2). We take heed of what is needed for any potential trades by ensuring that they fully meet our rules/criteria for our strategies.

3). We are mindful of the fact that not every trade will go our way, so we have to be 100% focused and ready to act swiftly if a trade starts to go against us, BEFORE the trade becomes unmanageable and therefore a threat to our trading bank!

As traders we are also unrecognisable by look or by sight or by sound; just as the Stoics are.

Sticking to your rules consistently over a period of time, will "make character your loudest statement" too!
