Timeless Wisdom

John BoyUk, 19 March

"For there are two rules to keep at the ready — that there is nothing good or bad outside my own reasoned choice, and that we shouldn't try to lead events but to follow them."
— Epictetus, Discourses

Today's meditation is a very interesting one, especially when we compare it to trading.

The quote from de Mello's book really resonates as a trader; "Remember each individual has a choice. You are always the one in control." So basically the cause of our irritation comes from us, the choices that we make and most importantly how we deal with those choices in the height of battle during a trade!

We have to accept what is happening during a trade and deal with it, without hesitation and in a heartbeat, while we can still control it, if it's going against us. The majority of trades that go our way, will provide us with our targeted profit. As long as we control the odd one that is going against us, we are protecting our bank to live to fight another day!

If we accept what is happening when we are trading and act accordingly, there will be no anger and frustration because we have stuck to the plan 100%.

If we repeat this "timeless wisdom" every time that we enter a trade, we are most definitely on the right path on our trading journey.
