"If you wish to improve, be content to appear clueless or stupid in extraneous matters — don't wish to seem knowledgeable. And if some regard you as important, distrust yourself."
— Epictetus, Enchiridion
So as today's meditation says; "We don't have to present ourselves as an informed and worldly individual. We don't need to be seen as knowing everything."
As traders this is also true. We don't need to know strategy after strategy that we will probably never even use! I haven't got a clue about some of the strategies that people are using and to be honest I really don't care either! All we need to do is concentrate on the strategies that we use day in day out, which work for us over a long time horizon. Instead of putting all our efforts into finding out about what others are doing, we stick to our tried and trusted methods which pays dividends for us. The more we practice, the better we become, which in turn gives us great confidence in what we are achieving.
So do we need to use our time, energy and brainpower, feeling that we must know what others are doing and how they are doing it? No of course we don't; because all this does, is cause a distraction and can stall us on our trading journey. We put all of our efforts into staying on the correct trading path, by sticking to what we know works for us. We don't know and don't care what others are doing.
Doing this we develop a more rested mind and we are at peace to trade our strategies that we know so well.
Stick to what works for you and forget about everything else! You've got this; you can do it!
