Keep It Simple

John BoyUk, 29 January

"At every moment keep a sturdy mind on the task at hand, as a Roman and human being, doing it with strict and simple dignity, affection, freedom, and justice — giving yourself a break from all other considerations. You can do this if you approach each task as if it is your last, giving up every distraction, emotional subversion of reason, and all drama, vanity, and complaint over your fair share. You can see how mastery over a few things makes it possible to live an abundant and devout life — for, if you keep watch over these things, the gods won't ask for more."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Today's meditation is a very obvious one! By sticking only to our strategies which we get to know inside out, rinse and repeat; we are keeping it simple.

We don't need to cover this with that, in case this or that happens! Complicated strategies can be very confusing and you need to know exactly what you are doing when you are in a trade, all of the time! If you don't know when to exit a trade that is going wrong because your strategy is too complicated and confusing, then quite simply you need to change your strategy!

As soon as I enter a trade I know exactly where my exit point is, should it not be going to plan; Do you? The simplest strategies work; so stick to the task in hand, don't get caught up in other distractions or other people's trades. Devote your full concentration and energy to each trade and treat each one as though it was your last!

By doing this we will "keep it simple" as we challenge ourselves every day that we trade, to become the best that we possibly can.

Like the last sentence of today's meditation says; "Find clarity in the simplicity of doing your job today".

This sums it up to perfection! Ensure that you do this every day and you will notice a huge difference as you evolve on your trading journey; I promise you!
