"Our soul is sometimes a king, and sometimes a tyrant. A king, by attending to what is honorable, protects the good health of the body in its care, and gives it no base or sordid command. But an uncontrolled, desire-fueled, over-indulged soul is turned from a king into that most feared and detested thing — a tyrant."
— Seneca, Moral Letters
This is a tough one to compare to trading. The only thing that springs to mind for me, is how you can become your own "hero" by sticking 100% to your rules/criteria for your strategies. Easier said than done of course, especially in the early days of your trading journey, when you need to make sure that you can protect that bank to continue learning! You don't want to be constantly topping up your account, blowing banks! Something that the majority of us will do in the early days... I certainly did, but I call that the price of learning. As long as we learn from our mistakes and don't repeat the same errors over and over again, it's like paying for your education in trading.
It is far too easy to become indisciplined and lose patience, developing the wrong mindset. This will become destructive behaviour, more in the style of "Nero!"
So who are you going to be? We should all be striving to be a "Hero" and not "Nero!"
