"Just as when meat or other foods are set before us we think, this is a dead fish, a dead bird or pig; and also, this fine wine is only the juice of a bunch of grapes, this purple-edged robe just sheep's wool dyed in a bit of blood from a shellfish; or of sex, that it is only rubbing private parts together followed by a spasmic discharge — in the same way our impressions grab actual events and permeate them, so we see them as they really are."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Today's meditation is a tough one to compare to trading.
After a lot of thought, the only thing I could think of, was the guys on social media wanting you to part with your hard earned money, for tips, strategies etc. These guys will show huge green screens and inform you that they can teach you to do the same! They don't show their huge losses of course and they just want to draw you in and take your money!
This is most definitely "a productive use for contempt" and these people must be avoided at all costs!
There are no shortcuts to successful trading and it can't just be handed to you on a silver platter, whatever the cost. It is most definitely not a get rich quick scheme! Stick to the rules/criteria for your strategies and get to know those strategies inside out and back to front! Work on improving every day. If you remain disciplined and patient and you put in the hard work, you will be rewarded. Slow and steady wins the race. Take your time and try and be as consistent as you possibly can. This way you can slowly build your profits over a period of time.
