"Circumstances are what deceive us — you must be discerning in them. We embrace evil before good. We desire the opposite of what we once desired. Our prayers are at war with our prayers, our plans with our plans."
— Seneca, Moral Letters
An interesting meditation to think about today.
From a trading perspective this screams at me to concentrate on one thing and one thing only! Put all your effort and concentration into your strategies and ignore all the noise. Don't become divided by getting distracted by other people and what they are doing. If you solely concentrate on your strategies, giving them your full and undivided attention, you are not deceiving yourself and getting side tracked by other things.
This means that you can be fully focused and at peace with your trading 100%.
We are using the stats/data that we have available to us to make an informed choice and if all the rules/criteria for our strategies are met, there will be no screwed up judgments or biased thoughts. We will also be consistent in making the right choices and be able to fully manage our trades to completion. We must respond to what we are seeing during a trade and not what we expect to see! If a trade is going against us, we cut it short at our pre-arranged exit point, taking a controlled red and move on. If it goes to plan, we take our targeted profit and move on. This is where being consistent with our trading options is vital. By doing this on a regular basis, we are not creating a war inside and working against ourselves. Because we are doing the same thing day in day out, rinse and repeat, we become comfortable and confident in what we are doing.
We become 100% focused on one thing and ensuring that we don't become "deceived and divided."
