"Remember that your ruling reason becomes unconquerable when it rallies and relies on itself, so that it won't do anything contrary to its own will, even if its position is irrational. How much more unconquerable if its judgments are careful and made rationally? Therefore, the mind freed from passions is an impenetrable fortress — a person has no more secure place of refuge for all time."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Today's meditation is a very interesting read and is really on topic, when we look at it from a trading perspective.
How many times have I stressed in my previous daily journals, the importance of becoming so familiar with your strategies, that you get to know them inside out and back to front? Repetition and constant practice; rinse and repeat on a daily basis, is a sure fire way to become consistent and confident in reacting instantly, without hesitation, to whatever the market throws at you.
I love the Bruce Lee quote, which I've seen a few times being quoted on social media etc. and then the sentence after that, sums up exactly what we are trying to achieve from our repetitive trading behaviour and I quote; "When we repeat an action so often it becomes unconscious behaviour, we can default to it without thinking."
This is exactly what we are doing. If a trade is going our way, we let it run and take our targeted pre-event profit. If a trade is going against us, we take a controlled loss at our pre-agreed exit point.
By doing this every time that we trade, it becomes second nature, to be able to fully manage our trades to completion; win or lose.
When we show up every day that we can, we are building a steady pattern of habits and behaviours and the more we practice, the more we will subconsciously react instantly, to make the right decisions when we are trading.
Sticking to the rules/criteria for our strategies and getting to know them through repetition and constant practice, means that we are setting up "the most secure fortress" for our trading bank.
If you can put in the repetitive and often boring hard work, you will reap the rewards!
You can do it; you've got this!
