"The art of living is more like wrestling than dancing, because an artful life requires being prepared to meet and withstand sudden and unexpected attacks."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Another very interesting meditation today and I think when we compare this to trading, rather than dancing or wrestling for that matter, it is more a case of us battling with ourselves!
I always say that if you can master yourself, you can master anything!
We have to be so focused and "in the zone" when we are trading. We must have the patience and discipline to stick to the rules/criteria for our strategies 100% and manage every trade fully to completion, whether they are winning trades or controlled losses.
This is why it is absolutely vital that your mind is in the right place. You must have that mindset and unbending discipline to do the right thing and make the right choices, before it can become a problem and a threat to your trading bank!
We also have to turn up every day that we can and practice and practice. The more we practice, the more we become familiar with our strategies and in turn become more consistent and this breeds confidence of knowing exactly what we need to do, regardless of what the markets throw at us
I do love the last two sentences again today, as I did yesterday's meditation and I quote; "We have to undergo hard training and cultivate an indomitable will to prevail. Philosophy is the steel against which we sharpen that will and strengthen that resolve"
"Life isn't a dance" and neither is trading!
