"Success comes to the lowly and to the poorly talented, but the special characteristic of a great person is to triumph over the disasters and panics of human life."
— Seneca, On Providence
How very true today's meditation is! I found myself nodding in agreement as I was reading it and it is the perfect example of the qualities needed to be become successful and profitable on your trading journey.
If as traders, we can keep going when others quit and make it, by putting in the hard work and honesty, sticking to the rules/criteria for our strategies through thick and thin; that is most certainly impressive and something to be proud of!
There is also a sentence that really resonates with me and stands out, in today's meditation and I quote "A person who overcame not just the external obstacles to success but mastered themselves and their emotions along the way."
This sums trading up in a nutshell for me. We have external obstacles that will try and divert us from the correct trading path. Jumping on trades through impulse, without doing our research first. Jumping on other people's trades, again unresearched. Becoming distracted, when we should be totally focused and "in the zone" to enable us to manage our trades to completion. The list goes on... Then we have to master ourselves and our emotions of course, which is no mean feat by any stretch of the imagination! If a trade is going against you, can you become emotionless and pull the trigger to exit that losing trade in a heartbeat? Before it becomes unmanageable and a real threat to your trading bank?
This is why it is so important to develop a neutral mindset, every time that you enter a trade. This will enable you to react swiftly and without hesitation to what you are seeing, rather than what you are expecting to see!
If you can do this when required, congratulations; because you are mastering yourself and your emotions too!
We have to be resilient, determined, patient, disciplined, emotionless, almost robotic in repetition, day in day out, trade after trade, to become the best that we can possibly be.
As the title of today's meditation says; "Anyone can get lucky, not everyone can persevere"
Our perseverance to continue striving to make the right decisions when we trade, can see us through the hard times and moments.
You can do it.... You've got this 100%!
