"The beautiful and good person neither fights with anyone nor, as much as they are able, permits others to fight . . . this is the meaning of getting an education — learning what is your own affair and what is not. If a person carries themselves so, where is there any room for fighting?"
— Epictetus, Discourses
Today's meditation is not really something that I can relate to trading, apart from a reminder that getting angry when trading is also the wrong thing to do and can lead to heavy losses through revenge trading and being out of control!
We must be totally in control and in the right frame of mind to be able to trade as per our rules/criteria for our strategies and to be able to stick to this 100% of the time.
If a trade goes against you and you take a bigger loss than you had planned, you need to step away and calm down. Maybe take a walk, but whatever you do, don't carry on trading while you are angry, as you will be desperate to get your loss back asap, breaking your rules and even going full tilt!
You have to look at the bigger picture and not what has just happened. With the correct mindset, once you are back "in the zone," you will slowly get back your loss. The last thing you want to do is force trades to try and get your loss back straight away. All you will do is make the situation worse and damage your bank even further!
So just as getting angry from disagreements with people isn't the answer, the same can be said if you trade when getting angry.
In all scenarios, think about it, calm down and come back stronger!
You can do this for sure.
