Take A Walk

John BoyUk, 21 June

"We should take wandering outdoor walks, so that the mind might be nourished and refreshed by the open air and deep breathing."
— Seneca, On Tranquility of Mind

I have mentioned a few times since I started writing these daily journals of the importance of taking a pre trading walk to clear the mind ready for the day's trading session.

It is something that I find extremely useful and it's also a bit of exercise too, before sitting in front of your computer screen!

Whilst walking, I will generally be thinking about my rules/criteria for my strategies and reminding myself of the importance of controlling any losses, before they get to a stage of being unmanageable and in turn, becoming a threat to my trading bank!

I believe that this is a great habit to get into and it most definitely puts me in the right frame of mind to then get stuck in, to begin trading for the day.

We need to be kind to ourselves and to be able to sharpen our minds as much as we possibly can. This is a great way of doing it, along with a short meditation too, which I have also touched on before, when writing these journals.

So maybe it's something to think about and try out.

"Take a walk" pre race and see if you feel any benefit from doing it. Our mind and wellbeing are so important and need to be looked after and hopefully it will help you, as much as it helps me, if you start to do a pre trade walk on a regular basis.

Food for thought maybe?
