"In this way you must understand how laughable it is to say, 'Tell me what to do!' What advice could I possibly give? No, a far better request is, 'Train my mind to adapt to any circumstance.' . . . In this way, if circumstances take you off script . . . you won't be desperate for a new prompting."
— Epictetus, Discourses
Today's meditation encourages us to train ourselves to deal with scenarios, rather than being constantly told what to do in every situation.
When we think about this in trading terms, it is also very true. We have strategies which we use and if we practice and practice, dealing with different challenges, as they arise, we will become more confident.
By doing this, we are training ourselves to make the right decisions during our trading. Yes, we may make a few mistakes along the way in the early days in particular, as we practice and get used to our strategies. As long as we learn from those mistakes, we will start to cut any losing trades short at our cut off point and take our targeted profits as and when they appear. This enables us to become more consistent in our actions and profitable long term too of course.
You know what you have to do and you must stick to the rules/criteria for your strategies 100%.
If you can train your mind and put into practice what you need to do, on a regular basis, you will be able to respond to any situation that the market throws at you with a renewed confidence.
Remember, it is all down to you. So get out there and practice doing it as often as possible, striving to become the best that you can possibly be, on your trading journey.
You can do it; you've got this!
