Each The Master Of Their Own Domain

John BoyUk, 18 July

"My reasoned choice is as indifferent to the reasoned choice of my neighbor, as to his breath and body. However much we've been made for cooperation, the ruling reason in each of us is master of its own affairs. If this weren't the case, the evil in someone else could become my harm, and God didn't mean for someone else to control my misfortune."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

An interesting philosophy in today's meditation and this can also be applied to trading.

You shouldn't be bothered what others are doing on their trading journey. What may work for them, may not work for you. With this in mind, you should stick to your strategies that have been proven to work for you, when you follow the rules/criteria for those strategies 100% of the time. Yes you will have the odd trade that goes against you now and again, but because you are managing those trades by cutting short losses at your pre-agreed exit point, you retain profitability over the longer term. This is because the wins, far outweigh the occasional controlled losses.

This is the very nature of trading and you have to accept that you won't be right all the time. However, the stats/data that you have available, means that you are dealing in a decent ratio of probability and you will be right many more times than you are wrong. You just need to manage those losses swiftly and efficiently, to stay in the game!

So to re-cap; let others make their own choices and trading decisions which is their business of course!

You just need to crack on with your own business and work hard to achieve your trading goals.

I love the last line from today's meditation and I quote; "You've got plenty to wrestle with yourself, without bothering anyone else!"

Just as the title of today's meditation says; "Each The Master Of Their Own Domain"

The only trading journey that you should be interested in, is your own. You've got this!
