The Enemy Of Happiness

John BoyUk, 17 February

"It is quite impossible to unite happiness with a yearning for what we don't have. Happiness has all that it wants, and resembling the well-fed, there shouldn't be hunger or thirst."
— Epictetus, Discourses

This is very interesting to digest for us as traders! We want to be successful, getting better and better each day and this is only natural of course. However instead of concentrating on what we want to become, we need to be concentrating on the here and now! Are we being disciplined enough to be sticking 100% to the rules/criteria that make up our strategies? Are we executing our trades at the right time and focusing on doing whatever we need to do, while we are exposed in a trade? Staying disciplined to ensure that we have the correct mindset, every time that we enter a trade, is vital.

If we can concentrate on this totally and forget yearning for more profit and the desire to quit work and be able to trade full time, we are taking the pressure off ourselves and just concentrating on the day to day process.

When we take care of the here and now and we consistently use our trading process, the money will take care of itself. We want to be happy now, not dreaming of happiness in the future and if we take care of being happy now, our future will take care of itself. Enjoy as you learn on your trading journey now and don't make your future dreams and yearning for more and more "the enemy of happiness" today! Remember we are here for the long haul, so it's imperative that we stick to the plan, stay grounded and patient.
