Get Active In Your Own Rescue

John BoyUk, 31 December

"Stop wandering about! You aren't likely to read your own notebooks, or ancient histories, or the anthologies you've collected to enjoy in your old age. Get busy with life's purpose, toss aside empty hopes, get active in your own rescue — if you care for yourself at all — and do it while you can."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

A very interesting meditation to finish off the year. I read somewhere that reading thousands of books, will never give you the same experience as executing thousands of trades, using your strict rules/criteria for your strategies!

Yes, reading is a great tool to help with your mindset and the likes of Steve Ward, Ryan Holiday, Steve Burns, and the late great Mark Douglas, to name but a few, are superb for helping you develop and evolve on your trading journey.

You can't however, beat experience and the more you practice and practice, so that you know your strategies inside out and back to front, the more confident and consistent you will become. So put down those books and start applying yourself. A new year is just the incentive to do that too!

I do hope that over the last three years of writing these daily journals, I have helped and inspired or even encouraged you to change your habits and become a better trader, with a stronger mindset and a commitment to making the right decisions. Even if I have helped just one person, then to me it was worth it and by writing, I am also reinforcing these messages to myself too!

As from tomorrow, I will be doing something that I have regularly mentioned in my daily journals, which means that I will be practicing what I have preached!

I am going to "rinse and repeat" my messages every day for the next 12 months. The reason I am doing this, is that there are a steady stream of new members joining TTM on a daily basis, so it will hopefully help them. So what about those long standing members who have been here for over three years, I here you ask? This will be a little reminder of what I have previously written (if they actually remember!).

I think this is worth it, to be able to reach out to more new members and at the same time reinforce the messages to our long standing regular members. I do hope that you all agree with my sentiment!

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very happy and prosperous new year!

Let's hope that 2026 can be a great year of responsible and profitable trading.

Like I have said many times over the past three years; You can do it. You've got this!
