A Simple Way To Measure Our Days

John BoyUk, 15 December

"This is the mark of perfection of character — to spend each day as if it were your last, without frenzy, laziness, or any pretending."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

An interesting meditation today. My motto has always been to enjoy every day as though it is your last and I try to do that every day!

When I look at today's meditation to try and compare it to trading, I can see a few similarities so I will go through them.

I don't think anyone can be a perfect trader, because there will always be challenges when things go wrong during a trade, but we can always ensure that a trade doesn't become unmanageable, by cutting our losses at our pre-agreed exit points, to protect our bank.

We can start every trading day, aiming to get a little closer to perfection. Even the tiniest improvement each day, is all that we need to keep on moving forward and evolving and developing on our trading journey. The more that we repeatedly practice executing our trades, the better we will become and we will gain the confidence that we can consistently make the right decisions, swiftly and decisively, on the odd occasion when needed, to protect our trading bank.

If we can concentrate on being patient and disciplined, whilst adopting the correct mindset, with zero distractions and trading "in the zone" in every trading session that we undertake, we are certainly giving ourselves a vital edge!

"A simple way to measure our (trading) days," is through our profit and loss and our spreadsheets.

By sticking to the rules/criteria for our strategies and using the historical stats/data that we have available to us, we can shut out all of the outside noise and interferences and avoid getting involved in anything other than what is part of our trading plan.

If you can be persistent and determined enough, to put in the hard work over a period of time, because it won't just happen overnight; then this is truly the way to become successful and profitable as a trader, I promise you!

Are you up for the challenge?
